Program Descriptions

  • Resource Specialist Program

The Resource Specialist Program serves students who primarily have mild disabilities but can still access the general education curriculum with additional accommodations and specialized academic instruction. Students may receive specialized academic instruction within the general education classroom (push in) or in a separate classroom (pull out). Students in a Resource Specialist Program are on a regular diploma track and spend the vast majority of their day in general education classrooms.

    Co-Taught Classrooms

91社区has co-taught classrooms at all levels, though the model may vary according to the grade-level. In elementary school, students assigned to Special Day Classes are paired with general education students (1/3rd Special Education and 2/3rds General Education). A full-time Special and General Educator co-teach with the help of two paraprofessionals in the classroom. In middle and high school, co-teaching occurs in core subjects, primarily English and mathematics, with the same ratios as elementary schools. Students in co-teaching programs are on a regular diploma track.

    Learning Center Program

Much like co-teaching, students in the Learning Center Program spend the majority of their day in general education. The difference between co-teaching and the Learning Center model in special education is that the students in the Learning Center may receive additional support with specialists in a small group setting within or outside of the general education classroom. Students in this model are assigned to a Special Education teacher and are on a regular diploma track.

    Special Day Classes

  • Special Day Class - Mild/Moderate

Students in Special Day Classes (Mild/Moderate) spend the majority of their day in a Special Education classroom. However, almost all students are integrated in general education for classes they are able to access effectively with support. Most students in these settings are on a regular diploma tack.

    Special Day Class - Moderate

This Special Day Class Moderate program is a separate classroom environment that generally provides specialized academic instruction for more than half of the school day.  The goal of the program is to support students primarily with academics, adaptive, and social-emotional skills. This program was recently developed to provide a space for students that did not fit in either a mild-moderate or moderate-severe environment. Students in this program are on a certificate of completion track.

Special Day Class - Extensive Support Needs

Special Day Class Moderate-Severe programs are intended to support students that have intellectual disabilities. Many of our students in these programs also have other types of conditions. As a result, a lot of support is needed to ensure our students are successful. The primary focus is to develop functional academics, while also providing targeted academic support. Students are on a certificate of completion track in Moderate-Severe programs.

  • Special Day Class - Counseling Enriched

This Special Day Class is to support students that have been impacted by a mental health disability that is impeding their ability to access the general education classroom. Students in this program may start out by spending a full-day in a Counseling Enriched program (this is not typical). However, the goal is to provide intensive supports so they can eventually return to the general education setting with accommodations. Students are on a regular diploma track in this program.
