• Learn to work in a Preschool

Did you know that the foundation for our personalities is set by the end of our early childhood years? The way families and educators interact with young children is extremely important in a child’s development.

If you are interested in making a positive impact on children in a preschool setting, then the Livermore Adult Education CDA (Child Development Associate) program is a wonderful place for you to begin.

CDA is an early childhood education course and internship that teaches students the best ways to nurture children in a preschool setting.  We are looking for people ready to help children celebrate who they are and recognize the value of their unique capabilities.

Our CDA program is low cost and consists of eight, four-week courses.  Students will also gain hands-on experience through internships at local preschools.  In addition, English language learners can expect plenty of support for navigating the written and spoken language needed for successful completion of the CDA program.

To earn the CDA certificate, students must complete coursework, practicum hours, and a professional portfolio. With this certificate, you can work as an assistant in a preschool setting. Students who want to become preschool teachers will complete our program prepared for college coursework. As a CDA student, you will create connections and build relationships with local preschools so you will be ready to find a job when you complete the program.

The CDA class will meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am to 12pm at the Livermore Adult Education site, located at 1401 Almond Avenue. The preschool observation hours will be scheduled according to student and preschool availability.
