Is YouthBuild for you?
YouthBuild is a program for youth, ages 17-24, who still need their high school diploma. The first six months of the program are FREE and will pay enrolled students up to $500/month while they earn their construction pre-apprenticeship certifications. They will also create a plan to finish their high school diploma (or prepare for the GED). In addition, YouthBuild students can earn the following certificates:
- OSHA 10
- Forklift Operation Certification
- First Aid/ CPR
- MC3 Certification
Not only can students gain valuable skills in general construction, but students can also earn specialized certifications in welding through our partnership with the Las Positas College Welding Program. Besides this workplace knowledge, YouthBuild also specializes in Career Development, Case Management, and other Leadership training to help prepare the participants for a successful future.

With YouthBuild, you have options:
As a NABTU certified pre-apprenticeship readiness program, all YouthBuild participants not only learn from experts in the field, but will also have the opportunity to:
- participate in job shadows in a variety of fields;
- apply for internships to explore new careers;
- build a resume and gain new experiences;
- visit local industry training centers;
- take part in a Mock Interview Event;
- attend various Trade Event shows;
- learn how to find a job and keep it!
Furthermore, after "graduation" from the pre-apprentice program, all YouthBuild students have access to a full-time Job Placement Specialist (JPS). For 12 months after exiting the construction and education portion of the program, the JPS will follow every student to support and ensure their success as they go into the field, including support to find the right job, and if possible, the right career!
